Operation Keep – Lancashire Constabulary

‘Operation KEEP,’ is a community art project with Lancashire Constabulary which sought new and exciting ways to warn the public of bag theft in Cleveleys Town Centre. Its creative solution was the integration of twenty sculpture installations situated in bag theft crime street ‘hot spots’.

The project was widely accepted by the public and bag thefts were reported to have reduced.[1] The project was publicised through; numerous local newspapers, police reviews, BBC news website which featured the article ‘Crime-fighting art reduces theft’[2], Wyre borough council publications and MAilOUT the national Magazine for developing participation in the arts.

During Operation Keep new partnerships were forged between Lancashire Constabulary, Cleveleys Trade Association, LANPAC, Wyre Community Safety Partnership and Wyre Borough Council. These partnerships play an active role in the Blackpool Creative Industries Forum which was formed by Blackpool Borough Council and Blackpool and The Fylde College.

Claire has been Awarded WINNER of the Governors Award for Excellent in Teaching and Learning for her commitment to Public Art led Community Projects and her work with local agencies and nominated for two National Beacon Awards.
